Senior softball: The Brandon Senior Softball Association hosts noncompetitive games at 9 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at William Owen Pass softball complex, 1300 Sydney Dover Road. Food festival: The GFWC Brandon Junior Woman's Club will host its third annual International Food Festival from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at its historic clubhouse, 129 N Moon Ave. Sample foods from England, India, the Caribbean, Spain and Hawaii. Peg-Leg Krewe Masquerade Party: The Brandon and Ruskin based Ye Notorious Krewe of the Peg-Leg Pirate will host the annual Halloween costume party Oct. 27 at Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill in the Westfield Brandon mall. Proceeds will benefit area amputees and their families. Founded in 2004 as a charitable organization, the Peg-Leg Pirate Krewe champions the needs of local amputees, especially children and veterans, raising donations through a host of fun events. The Masquerade Party will offer a full buffet, pirate auction, 50/50 drawing, costume contest and more events. Tickets are available at the Brandon Smokey Bones and online at peglegpirate.org for $10, adults only. Local businesses are invited to sponsor the Masquerade Party. Rotary Club cookout: The Plant City Daybreak Rotary Club will host its third annual Country Cracker Fest at 6 p.m. Oct. 19 at the home of George and Cassandra Banning, 2506 Clubhouse Drive. Enjoy country Cracker food including North Carolina hog, onion rings, gator bites, ribs, bass bites, jambalaya, swamp cabbage, wild rice, sweet corn, fruit and salads. There will be live entertainment and a silent auction. Tickets are $75. Proceeds will benefit the charities of the Daybreak Rotary Club. Mystery Map Event: Little Manatee River State Park will hold the 15th Annual Mystery Map Event from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 20 in Wimauma. Field of Honor Ceremony: The quarterly Field of Honor Ceremony sponsored by the Veterans Council of Hillsborough County begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park, 3602 U.S. 301. The ceremony will honor all soldiers of the last three months who have died in the war in Afghanistan. Their names will be read and an American flag will be placed in their memory.
