Churches plan seminar to help jobless survive

"Surviving Unemployment,'' an interactive seminar, will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Good Samaritan Episcopal Church, 2156 NE Coachman Road. In addition to Good Samaritan, other churches hosting the event are Hope Presbyterian, St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, St. John's Episcopal, Unitarian Universalist and Unity of Clearwater. There will be a panel discussion with Dr. MaryAnn Crowder, a Clearwater therapist, and the Rev. Fred Baldwin, a job/life coach from Tampa. For registration or information, call (727) 531-6020.

Restaurant offers benefit for hospital

Grass Flats Bar & Grill, 12924 49th St. N., Clearwater, is holding its second-annual benefit for All Children's Hospital. It will take place from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. Activities include a free pig roast, volleyball tournament, 50/50 raffles, gift-basket raffles, face-painting and a moon bounce house for kids. The event is co-sponsored by Born to Ride, Budweiser and Fran Haasch. Six local bands are donating their time: Basic Rock Outfit, Kilo, Gunn Wire, Rebel Pride, The Go Daddies and Nation. Dunedin

Calling singers for community chorus

If you have a singing voice and want to share it, the city of Dunedin Parks and Recreation Department is holding auditions for its community chorus. The chorus performs at the Dunedin Community Center, 1920 Pinehurst Road, three times each season. Auditions will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Dunedin Community Center. Largo

Market in the Park looking for vendors

Pinellas County Market in the Park is inviting vendors to apply for the seasonal green market. Along with fresh produce, seafood and gardening items, Market in the Park is also looking for specialty craft vendors, especially those offering horticultural-friendly products. When its season starts in November, the 3-year-old market will be opening at a new site. It's moving from the Pinellas Extension to neighboring Heritage Village, 11909 125th St. N, Largo. It will be open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Nov. 7 to April 17.
