Nonprofit groups can apply for arts grants

St. Petersburg is offering arts grants to nonprofit cultural organizations. The organization must serve the residents of St. Petersburg. Applications for fiscal year 2009 City Arts Grants must be received or postmarked by Oct. 6. Application forms and guidelines are available at www.stpete.org/budget/grantsc.asp.

Neighborly Care Network needs volunteers to transport elderly people to the doctor, grocery store and on errands from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. You must have your own vehicle. Reimbursement for gas is available. For information, call 573-9444, ext. 291.

Pros can learn about controlling bedbugs

A workshop on bedbug control for professionals will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Pinellas County Extension, 12520 Ulmerton Road, Largo. Speakers from the University of Florida and Dow AgroSciences will present the workshop and answer questions. Topics will include fumigation, heat treatment, and sealing and preparing truck trailers.
