North Tampa events: junior golf; cultural center; free ballet classes

Junior golf: The Junior Golf Program at Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club will hold its annual fundraiser starting at 5:30 p.m. June 7 at the club, 200 Inverness Ave., to help fund youth golf scholarships, instruction, tournaments and equipment.

A silent auction starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by a live auction at 7. Golf packages, vacations, jewelry, golf apparel and equipment will be up for bid. Items donated for the auctions, as well as cash donations, are tax deductible. Vendor space is available upon request.

A garage sale room will offer gently used golf equipment, golf balls and other accessories. A buffet dinner, with a carving station, will be available from 6 to 7 p.m. The cost is $8.95 for adults, $4.95 for children 12 and under.

The program's goal is to provide a platform for junior golfers of all levels with a comprehensive instruction program and competitive environment for boys and girls ages 6 to 17. For more information, contact Megan Younkman at myounkman@me.com or (813) 967-1828.

Carrollwood grant: Friends of Carrollwood Cultural Center has received a $1,000 grant from Wells Fargo's Community Partners Giving Program.

The center's mission is to provide cultural and educational programs and events to enhance learning, creativity and a sense of community.

For the annual program, each bank branch explores the needs of its community and selects a nonprofit or school to receive a $1,000 grant. This year, Wells Fargo will award more than $600,000 in grants throughout Florida.

Free ballet classes: The Patel Conservatory at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts is offering free ballet classes June 2 for children from pre-K3 through 12th grade. Participants will be given free ballet instruction and will receive the opportunity for placement in the 2012-2013 academic year program and summer programs at the Patel Conservatory, 1010 N W.C. MacInnes Place.

Introduction to ballet, for pre-K3 through kindergarten, will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m.; beginning ballet, for first through eighth grades, runs from 10 to 11 a.m.; and elementary/ intermediate ballet, for fourth through 12th grade, is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

No experience is required to participate in the introduction to ballet and beginning ballet classes. To be eligible for the elementary/intermediate ballet master class, students must have a minimum of two years recent ballet training. Preregistration is required. Call (813) 222-1263.
