Butterflies and hummingbirds: Learn what plants to grow in your yard to attract hummingbirds and butterflies in a class led by a park ranger at 10 a.m., and again at noon, on March 10 at Lettuce Lake Park, 6920 E Fletcher Ave. Meet in the visitor center. The program is for all ages. Cost is $5 per child and one adult; $2 park entry fee per vehicle, up to eight people per car. Senior promotion: Renowned international concert pianist Lillette Jenkins-Wisner appears with the gospel and jazz singing duo Au'Niece at the second annual Red Hat Social Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 18 at Cyrus Greene Center, 2101 E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The event, free to the public, is being held to promote the senior activities programs at the city of Tampa Parks and Recreation Centers. It is co-sponsored by Caregiver's Helping Hand Inc. Health testing for diabetes and blood pressure will be offered. Health care and vendors will be on hand to answer any questions or concerns. Charity and cards: The Tampa Lakes Woman's Club hosts its annual charity luncheon and card party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 26 at University Village retirement community, 12401 N 22nd St. Participants can play Scrabble, cards and other games. Also featured are door prizes, gift baskets, baked goods, a jewelry boutique and entertainment. Tickets are $25, with proceeds benefitting the Judeo Christian Health Clinic. A shuttle service will be available from the parking lot south of University Village. For tickets, call Dottie at (813) 961-5097.

Youth conference: Attend the "Leaders of Tomorrow Boys and Girls Conference'' for 11- to 16-year-old students from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 12 at the All People's Life Center, 6105 E. Sligh Ave. The event, which costs $10, is open to the first 150 who register. Students must register by March 8. The program is designed to raise awareness about positive lifestyles and health and welfare of Hillsborough County teens. Conference session topics include cyber bullying, fitness, nutrition, team building and a rap session. All participants will receive a T-shirt and lunch.
