Palin might be next VP hopeful at Sims Park

Those barricades that the city put up in Sims Park for Monday's visit by Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden will stay up a little longer. Now officials are prepping for a possible Saturday morning visit by the other vice presidential nominee, Republican Sarah Palin. City Manager Tom O'Neill had two meetings Tuesday with campaign officials interested in bringing Sen. John McCain's running mate to the riverfront park. "It's a possibility," said O'Neill. "It's not a definite thing." Campaign officials are also scouting other locations, he said. And Palin may have a little competition: Calvary Chapel Worship Center has already received city permits to host a fall festival at Sims Park on Saturday. O'Neill said Palin's people are talking with the church, to see if they could coordinate the two events.
