PEDESTRIAN killed TRYING TO cross u.s. 19
A man was killed Friday evening after he tried to cross U.S. 19 and was struck by a car. Without using a crosswalk, John Paul Guekunst, 41, tried to cross the highway near Highlands Boulevard when he walked into the path of a woman driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Her car slammed into him. Guekunst, of Palm Harbor, died at the scene.

Comfort food class taught at library
Registration is under way for One Bite Comfort Foods, a cooking demonstration with French-trained chef Rita Fabula. Included in the demonstration will be comfort foods like steak and potatoes, turkey and pork chops with applesauce. Harbormaster Office moves
Clearwater's Harbormaster Office is open at its new location. The facility moved from the second floor to the ground level of the Clearwater Beach Marina, 25 Causeway Blvd. The new location includes 1,618 square feet of space and improves accessibility for customers and the general public. Residents are invited to stop by the new location Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
