Bring the kids to EGGstravaganza

The 2016 Land O'Lakes Spring EGGstravaganza will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Land O'Lakes Community Center, 5401 Land O'Lakes Blvd.

Have picture taken with Easter Bunny

Easter festivities start Saturday at Gulf View Square mall, 9409 U.S. 19. The Easter Bunny will be available for photos through March 26.

A Sensitive Bunny event will be from 9 to 11 a.m. March 13 for families with children who have special needs.

To reduce sensory triggers, there will be no in-mall music, escalators near the photo set will be stopped, the lights will be dimmed and fountains will be shut down.

Lines will be eliminated by using a number system during which guests will approach the set when their number is called.

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will be from 9 to 10 a.m. March 19 in the Food Court.

Easter egg hunt, activities for kids

Children are invited to hunt for eggs at the fourth annual Easter Eggstravaganza from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Bowl, behind the Student Community Center, at Saint Leo University, 33701 State Road 52.

The event also will feature an egg toss, egg races, games, arts and crafts, candy and snacks. Admission is free.

Intro to Master Gardener training

The Pasco County Cooperative Extension Service will host two free meet-and-greet sessions for people who wish to apply for the 2016 Master Gardener volunteer training class.

All potential applicants must attend one of the sessions to be considered for the class, which will be offered from May to August in Land O'Lakes.

The meet-and-greets will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Land O'Lakes Community Center, 5401 Land O'Lakes Blvd., and from 3 to 5 p.m. March 17 at the Land O'Lakes Library, 2818 Collier Parkway.

Seating at the meet-and-greets is limited. Attendees will meet veteran Master Gardeners, learn about the class and visit with Whitney Elmore, county extension director/urban horticulture agent and Master Gardener coordinator, as well as Jim Moll, Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program coordinator and class instructor. Here comes the Easter Bunny: The Easter Bunny will arrive at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Shops at Wiregrass, 28211 Paseo Drive, Wesley Chapel.

Mr. Tommy, a children's entertainer who also is the lead guitarist for Eddie Money, will perform. The Easter Bunny will be at the mall for photo opportunities through March 26.

Relay teams wanted: Investigation Station seeks teams to compete in its Pot of Gold Relay Race, a fundraiser that will begin at 9 a.m. March 12 at Veterans Memorial Park, 14333 Hicks Road, Hudson.

Teams may be made up of families, local heroes, businesses, adults, high school students and people who have special needs.

The cost to participate varies, and participants must register by March 10. The funds raised will be used to build an educational splash pad at Veterans Memorial Park. A splash pad is a series of fountains and water features in an outdoor space for cooling off and having fun.

Ribbon-cutting planned: Mayor Camille Hernandez and the members of the City Commission of Dade City will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. March 11 to dedicate Dade City's new City Hall/Police Department complex at 38020 Meridian Ave. The 21,000-square-foot building was designed by Wannemacher Jensen Architects and was built by Ajax Building Corp. The project cost $6.6 million. A reception will follow the ceremony.

Free batteries: The Sertoma Speech and Hearing Foundation of Florida hosts a hearing aid battery giveaway from 10 a.m. to noon March 11 at its office in New Port Richey, 4443 Rowan Road. Join hunger walk: The One Community Now Hunger Walk, designed to promote hunger awareness and raise funds for hunger relief for children and families in Pasco County, will be March 12 at Gulf High School, 5355 School Road, New Port Richey. Walkers should check in at 9 a.m. The opening ceremony will be at 10 a.m. An awards presentation to honor top fundraisers will be at noon. The event also will feature games, vendors, food and entertainment. Participants may walk as individuals or teams, and businesses are being sought to sponsor the event. Participants will raise money, all of which will be donated to food-related programs, such as Pack-A-Sack 4 Kids and Metropolitan Ministries. Benefit golf tournament: The sixth annual Drive Away Cancer Golf Outing, hosted in memory of John Kubek and Mike Millian, will be March 20 at Seven Springs Golf and Country Club, 3535 Trophy Blvd., New Port Richey. Registration will begin at 11 a.m. The shotgun start will be at 1 p.m., and dinner, awards and raffles will follow. Proceeds will benefit the JK Cancer Fund, which donates to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, the YMCA, Livestrong and the Pediatric Cancer Foundation. Help harvest loquats: Ecology Florida and Friendship Farms and Fare, with the support of the city of New Port Richey, are seeking volunteers to help harvest loquats in advance of the third annual Florida Loquat Festival.
