NEW PORT RICHEY
Sheriff's Office gets another ex-police chief
The Pasco County Sheriff's Office has snagged another former New Port Richey police chief, even if he technically only served in the position less than a week. Lt. Arthur Madden, 37, turned in his resignation form to the Police Department March 15 after he was offered a job as a patrol deputy, said Sheriff Chris Nocco. Nocco cited Madden's decade of experience in the Police Department, former Marine training and role on the county's SWAT team in his decision "to have somebody of his caliber coming to our Sheriff's Office." The Sheriff's Office hired former New Port Richey police Chief Jeffrey Harrington in October 2011 and took on Chief James Steffens earlier this month. Madden served a brief stint as acting chief when Steffens left, and before Kim Bogart was sworn in Wednesday as interim chief. Madden's first day on the new job is April 27.
