Catholic school carnival will open Thursday

Bishop Larkin Catholic School will host its fourth annual carnival Thursday through Feb. 26 at the school, 8408 Monarch Drive. There will be midway rides, games, concessions, food and live entertainment throughout the four-day event, as well as a craft fair/vendor expo and rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 26. Carnival hours will be 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday, 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, noon to midnight Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. Feb. 26. A chance to chat with city manager

Residents are invited to Coffee with the City Manager from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Feb. 29 in the New Port Richey Library meeting room, 5939 Main St. City Manager John Schneiger will discuss current issues and listen to residents' questions and concerns. Group distributes quilts, other goods

The quilt makers of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church meet at 9 a.m. Fridays at the church, 37015 Orange Valley Lane. The group recently distributed 12 quilts to Farmworkers Self-Help, 12 quilts to Daystar Hope Center, 18 baby quilts and 25 baby hats to Cornerstone Center for Women, 19 baby quilts and 71 baby hats to Pasco Regional Medical Center, and 124 quilts, 60 school kits and 27 personal care kits to Lutheran World Relief. The group also donated miscellaneous school supplies to Farmworkers Self-Help and the Redlands Christian Migrant Association. COUNTYWIDE

Program seeks top senior volunteer

The Home Instead Senior Care office serving east Pasco County is taking nominations for its Salute to Senior Service program to honor senior volunteers. The program will include a search for the most outstanding senior volunteer in each state and culminate with the selection of a national Salute to Senior Service winner during Older Americans Month in May. Nominees must be 65 years of age or older and volunteer at least 15 hours a month. Nominations will be accepted at www.SalutetoSeniorService.com through March 15. Nomination forms also can be requested at ckoehler@homeinsteadinc.com. State winners will receive plaques, and their stories will be posted on the SalutetoSeniorService.com website. In addition, $5,000 will be donated to the national winner's nonprofit charity of choice. For more information, call (813) 991-7524.
