Program shines spotlight on problem of human trafficking

A Human Trafficking Awareness Program will be presented by the Largo/Mid Pinellas Soroptimist Club at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Willey Fellowship Hall, 1199 Highland Ave., Largo.

The program will include guest speaker Lt. George Koder, head of the Clearwater/Tampa Bay Area Department of Justice Task Force on Human Trafficking. For more information, call (727) 584 8165.

Holiday Stroll at Central Park includes tree lighting

Walk between the flickering lights during the annual Holiday Stroll at Largo Central Park, 101 Central Park Drive, from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The family-friendly event will include a different holiday story and activity or craft at each shelter. Live entertainment will be provided by Dallas Brass. The official holiday tree lighting will take place at 7 p.m. in the center of the park.

The free event is sponsored by Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Concessions will be available. Limited on-site parking will be offered with free shuttles from Largo High and the Pinellas County School Board lot. Visit www.LargoEvents.com or call (727) 587-6740,ext. 5014.

Bay City Ballet performs 'Nutcracker' starting Dec. 11

Bay City Ballet of Clearwater will perform The Nutcracker at the Largo Cultural Center, 105 Central Park Drive.

The schedule is 8 p.m. Dec. 11; 2 and 8 p.m. Dec. 12; and 2 p.m. Dec. 13. Tickets are $22 in advance; $25 day of show; $20 seniors and students 19 and younger; $18 for groups of 10 or more. Call the box office at (727) 587-6793.

Synchronized swimming show at Southwest Pool

The Aquatics Division of the city of Largo Recreation, Parks and Arts Department invites the public to attend "A Giving Season" at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Southwest Pool, 13120 Vonn Road, Largo. Along with synchronized swimmers from around Florida, the show will feature aquatic dance routines by the Suncoast Waterworks Synchronized Swim Team and Becky Lancer, a 1996 Olympic gold medalist. All ages are welcome.

The public is asked to donate an unwrapped toy or cash donation for Toys for Tots at the gate. For more information, visit www.LargoPools.com.
