School evacuated because of gas leak

A leaking 2-inch gas line prompted the brief evacuation of some school district employees at Leila G. Davis Elementary School on Thursday morning, authorities said.

Workers nicked the line during a construction project, Clearwater public safety spokeswoman Elizabeth Watts said, and the leak was contained quickly by Clearwater Gas System. There were no children in the school, Watts said.
