Psychedelic Furs: Look for the crowd to jump to their feet tonight when the post-punk British new wavers break into Pretty in Pink. Joining the Furs is Happy Mondays, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Ritz Ybor, 1503 E Seventh Ave., Tampa. (813) 247-2555.

OktoBEERfest: Dunedin Brewery knows how to get your attention to kick off the Oktoberfest season with four days of beer goodness. The party starts around 7 p.m. Thursday, when you can buy the brewery's liter mugs, and ends Sunday with BarktoBEERfest, in which your pooch gets a bath and you get a beer. Midtown Through Our Eyes opening reception: On Friday, 43 student journalists from Melrose Elementary, John Hopkins Middle and Lakewood High schools will share their impressions of the St. Petersburg Midtown neighborhood through a 100-photo exhibit and magazine. Seminole Sound Spectacular: Saturday will feature about 25 top area and out-of-state high school marching bands. They will strut their stuff in this 33rd annual field show competition. Civil war re-enactment: The Hillsborough County's Veterans Memorial Park and Museum will commemorate the 1863 U.S. Navy raid on Confederates at the Hillsborough River and the Battle at Ballast Point.
