Meet the three Development job Finalists
The city will host a meet-and-greet event Friday for the public to mingle with the three finalists for the city's new economic development manager position. The event will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Heritage Museum, 1 Beekman Lane. Business owners and operators, residents and other interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be served. The finalists are Karen Lemmons, director of Community Development for the village of Machesney Park, Ill.; Tom Long, former executive director of the Lee County Industrial Development Authority, Jonesville, Va.; and John Metsopoulos of the U.S. 19-92 Community Redevelopment Agency in Florida's Seminole County.
Church to hold anti-drug events
The youth ministries of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral invites the public to attend a "Say No to Drugs" workshop at 7 p.m. Friday at the Theofilos Hall of Spanos-Pappas Community Center. Guest presenters will include Aspasia Manias and Steve Haskopoulos from Tarpon Discount Drugs, NOPE and Asters of the Hall. Historical Society serves up fish fry
The Clearwater Historical Society's annual fall fish fry will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ross Norton Recreation Center, 1426 S Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. Fried fish, hush puppies, grits, cole slaw, and coffee and tea will be served. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Proceeds from the event will be used for upkeep of the Historic Plumb House Museum, a cracker-style house, circa 1896. The museum will be open during the fish fry, and also through May 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the first and third Thursdays of each month and from 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday. The museum is located next door to the Ross Norton Recreation Center and its collection includes uniforms, pictures and other memorabilia of early Clearwater and the Clearwater Bombers, the 10-time Men's World Fast Pitch Softball Champions. Student exchange applications begin
Clearwater Sister Cities International is accepting applications from middle school students for the 2012 Young Ambassadors student exchange trip to Nagano, Japan next June. To receive an application, send your request to email@example.com. Application deadline is Nov. 14.
Concert to honor American heroes
