'Rock the Park' free concert set for Saturday
Hernando County Recreation will present Rock the Park, a free concert, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Hernando Park, 205 E Fort Dade Ave. The event features the RoadKings, which performs classic rock, country, blues and more. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. The concert is held in conjunction with the Brooksville Business Alliance's Summer Nights in Downtown Brooksville, which will be from 5 to 10 p.m., throughout downtown. Summer Nights includes family activities, a drum circle from 8 to 9 p.m., God's Hands Puppet Ministry from Grace Lutheran Church, and various vendors selling plants, produce, crafts, jewelry and food.
SPCA needs help and donations
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals/SPCA of Hernando County needs volunteers and donations. Canned cat and dog food is needed, as well as litter. Monetary donations are also appreciated. The SPCA is a nonprofit, no-kill shelter that does not receive government funding.
