Roof collapses at retirement community
A building's roof partially collapsed in the On Top of the World retirement community Friday afternoon, officials said. The collapse was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. at 2426 Ecuadorian Way inside the large condominium complex. Authorities said no one was trapped or injured in the collapse, which was mainly limited to a stairwell, but small areas of nearby apartments were affected. No residents were displaced. As of Friday afternoon, officials didn't know what caused the collapse.

Fun of Christmas, without the chill

Sweetbay to open on East Lake Road
Sweetbay Supermarkets will celebrate the grand opening of the company's 105th grocery store today and Sunday at 3400 East Lake Road. Reusable tote bags will be given away while supplies last. Opening-day shoppers can also enjoy live music from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. today and register to win a new refrigerator and a $250 Sweetbay gift card. There will be a cooking demonstration from 4 to 7 p.m. On Sunday, the store opens at 10 a.m., and festivities continue with food samplings and face painting.

Enjoy ski show on Tower Lake tonight
A free water ski show at Tower Lake this evening will feature more than 100 skiers, ages 6 to 60, performing theatrical water shows similar to those once seen at Cypress Gardens. The team just returned from its ninth consecutive Southern Regional championship win and has prepared a special 1980s-themed show. It starts at 6 p.m. at 130 Burbank Road.
