Ready to draw something?
Ruskin's annual art festival, the Big Draw, kicks off Saturday with a free family event at the SouthShore Regional Library.
This year's festivities pick up on the 2012 International Campaign for Drawing's theme "take a line for a walk."
Start Saturday by creating an accordion book with children ages 5 to 12 at the library, located at 15816 Beth Shields Way in Ruskin.
The fun continues at the library on Oct. 2 with a teen and adult drawing session with artist Bruce Marsh from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
On Oct. 4 and 11, head to the Big Draw Studio, 613 U.S. 41 in Ruskin, for an adult figure drawing class taught by Marsh. Class times are from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Then on Oct. 13, celebrate the International Day of Drawing with a draw-a-thon at the Big Draw Studio from 9 to 11:30 a.m. for children ages 6 to 12. The whole family can combine drawing and photography that afternoon at the Firehouse Cultural Center, 101 First Ave NE in Ruskin, from 1 to 4 p.m.
All programs are free. Some events require reservations. To find out more information, go to firehouseculturalcenter.org.
