Leaders cooking for a cause at Copper Bell
Local leaders are cooking for charity in May at Copper Bell Cafe, 401 S Parsons Ave. Tony Del Castillo, general manager at the Brandon & SouthShore Times, will cook from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday. Letter carriers' annual food drive is May 14
The National Association of Letter Carriers' annual food drive is May 14. Post offices from Seffner, Riverview, Brandon and Valrico will participate. Leave a bag of food on or by your mailbox for letter carriers to pick up.

Taste of Brandon and business expo await
The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce presents the 2011 Brandon Business Expo & Taste of Brandon from 3:30 to 8 p.m. May 19 in the Special Events Center at the Florida State Fair Grounds. Alafia River horse trail closed to the public
The horse trail at Alafia River Corridor Nature Preserve, 628 Jameson Road, is closed until further notice because of the prescribed burn that was held April 21.
The area is being monitored by Hillsborough County for hot spots and smoke near the horse trail. A nearby alternative for horseback riding is the Alafia River State Park, 14326 S County Road 39.
