Down syndrome group holds movie day

The Friends Raising Inspiring, Educating & Networking for Down Syndrome (F.R.I.E.N.D.S) sponsors a dinner and movie night for its social club (ages 15 to 25) at 4 p.m. May 29. Center Place preps for summer art camps

Center Place for Fine Arts, 619 Vonderburg Drive, will offer a variety of children's workshops throughout the summer in its Discovery Zone Summer 2016 program. Networking event will benefit NOTE

Goodwill donors get Dinosaur World tickets

Starting in June, anyone who drops off clothing or household items at any Goodwill Industries-Suncoast donation site will get two free children's tickets to Dinosaur World, one for each adult paid admission of $16.95. HCSO to host annual fishing tournament

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office will host its annual fishing tournament June 4 at the Westshore Yacht Club. The captain's party will be held at 7 p.m. June 3 at the Yacht Club. The tournament will run from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dinner, judging and prizes will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Entry fee is $125 per angler or $400 per boat (four anglers maximum). Teens invited to study safe driving tips

HCSO will offer a two-day Teen Driver Challenge course July 6 and 9, but participants are encouraged to sign up now. The Teen Driver Challenge is a defensive driving and vehicle control program designed for teenage drivers. The first day is spent in the classroom, the second on the driving course. Panera cookies fund A Kid's Place

Panera Bread locations owned by Covelli Family Limited Partnership will donate 100 percent of proceeds from the sale of flip-flop sandal cookies to A Kid's Place through Thursday . A Kid's Place is a Brandon nonprofit that provides foster care and housing for abandoned, abused and neglected children. The Hillsborough County Extension Office, 5339 County Road 579, will hold a series of Florida Master Money Mentor Training sessions from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on multiple days in June. The registration deadline is Tuesday. Topics will include budgeting, credit, debt management, saving and investing for future goals and effective communication strategies. MOWW recognizes community officer

The Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW) presented Hills­borough County Sheriff's deputy Jeff Merryday a citation for his service to the Sun City Center and Kings Point communities. The organization presented the reward to Merryday at a May 19 luncheon held at Freedom Plaza Club on May 19. Merryday provides residents with insight into fraudulent activities that target senior citizens and strategies to personally combat attempts to defraud them of their savings and/or property.

Lazy Days employees net dollars for youth

The Lazydays Employee Foundation raised $124,000 at its recent golf tournament to benefit at-risk youth in the Tampa Bay area.
