Bike map to park hits backlog

It seemed like a simple request. Tampa City Council member Linda Saul-Sena, an advocate for bike-friendly roads in Tampa, wanted the city's transportation staff to produce a map showing the best routes for biking to the newly opened Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park downtown. The response? No. In a memo to the council, Jean Dorzback, manager of the city's transportation division, said with staffing reductions and continued demands on the division, "resources are currently not available to staff and develop such a plan." Dorzback said Saul-Sena's request would be added to the division's work plan and it will get to it when it can.

Don't put your winter coat away yet

It's shaping up to be another chilly week, but a nice weekend could be on the way, said Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez. A cold front was expected to roll through the area Monday night, helping it stay chilly through Thursday. But Marquez said she's confident it will warm up for the weekend. "All we have to do is get through the workweek," she said.
