It's market Sunday at Hyde Park Village

One of the most popular open-air markets spreads out goods such as fresh eggs and local herbs and vegetables and handcrafted arts at Hyde Park Village from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The Fresh Market at Hyde Park Village draws about 70 vendors and more than 1,000 shoppers to 742 S Village Circle.

Florida Extension celebrates anniversary

The Hillsborough County UF/IFAS Extension invites residents to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of Florida Extension from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the UF/IFAS Extension Office, 5339 CR 579 in Seffner. The event is free and will showcase exhibits, garden tours and recognition of extension volunteers. The yearlong celebration is part of the Smith-Lever Act of 1914, which officially established the Cooperative Extension Service, allowing the public to benefit from the knowledge and expertise of land-grant universities. Extension has helped millions of Floridians by tapping the latest information from the research engines of the University of Florida and Florida A&M University. South County Job Fair to be held today

Hillsborough County small business owners are encouraged to register and participate in the South County Job Fair today, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, at the Hillsborough Community College SouthShore Campus, 551 24th St. NE in Ruskin. The job fair is being held in association with Career Source, HCC SouthShore and Hillsborough County.

A host of Tampa Bay employers plan to participate and offer on-the-spot interviews to potential employees. Other agencies including the Florida Department of Education, Hillsborough County Civil Board and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue will also be available to present information and highlight their community programs.

Moffitt hosts cancer symposium for Latinos

Moffitt Cancer Center hosts its biennial Latinos y el cáncer Educational Symposium on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event, conducted entirely in Spanish, will take place in the Vincent A. Stabile Research Building at 12902 Magnolia Drive. Cancer is the leading cause of death among Hispanics in the United States, according to the American Cancer Society. Moffitt doctors will hold interactive sessions to discuss cancer prevention, early detection, physical health and nutrition. Guest speakers include Dr. Elmer Huerta, director of the Cancer Preventorium at the Washington Cancer Institute and past president of the American Cancer Society. Lunch is free.
