Three teen boys arrested in sewage pipe rupture in Port Richey

3 boys arrested in rupture of sewage pipe

A juvenile prank sent a gush of sewage into a canal that streams into the Gulf of Mexico Monday, according to arrest reports from the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. Three teens — two from Chasco Middle School, ages 14 and 15, and a student, 15, from Ridgewood High — jumped on a sewage pipe to rupture it and also threw tires into a canal near Pegasus and Unicorn avenues in Port Richey. The pipe burst, sending more than 1,000 gallons of sewage into the canal. The Sheriff's Office said the damage is more than $15,000 and had "an unknown effect on the environment." All three students were arrested and charged with criminal mischief and illegal dumping. They were taken to the Land O'Lakes jail.

Motorist arrested on DUI charge

The Camaro had been swerving all over Little Road in New Port Richey and when it finally stopped in a McDonald's parking lot, the trooper asked the driver where he was headed. "I'm going to a DUI class," he reportedly said. And when asked if he had any medical conditions, he said, "I have a liver disease." According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver — Douglas A. Ervolino, 49, of Land O'Lakes — nearly crashed into cars while driving along Little Road midday Tuesday. The trooper said Ervolino stumbled and smelled of alcohol, though he denied drinking. He was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and taken to the county jail. He was released on bail that same day.
