Fire board vacancy draws eight hopefuls

Eight people have submitted letters of interest to assume the vacant seat on the Spring Hill Fire Rescue board left by Gene Panozzo, who resigned earlier this month. The eight are Sherry Adler, Ben Edwards, Harry Chamberlain, former county emergency management director Mark Tobert, Sal Ruggiero, Rusty Amore, Ian Norris and Edmund Cook. Commissioners will have a special meeting at 9 a.m. Wednesday to interview prospective candidates and choose a finalist.

Springstead High School's drama and choral departments will present Yours, Anne, a musical adaptation of The Diary of Anne Frank, at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday, at Springstead Theater, 3300 Mariner Blvd. Tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for students.
