Winning Fantasy 5 ticket sold in Brooksville

One of the five winning tickets in the Florida Lottery's Fantasy 5 drawing on Friday was purchased at Shop N Save Discount Beverage & Food, 351 Ponce De Leon Blvd. The winning numbers were 5-9-28-29-36. Patrick Kowalski of Brooksville claimed his prize of $47,279.03. The other winning tickets were purchased in Sunrise, Tampa, Lake Worth and Miami.

Iraq, Afghanistan vets invited to luncheon

A luncheon to honor Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their spouses will be held at 1 p.m. May 22 at Brooksville Elks Lodge 2582, 14494 Cortez Blvd. The event will be hosted by Gail Cleaves, head of national service for the lodge. The luncheon is free for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their spouses. The menu includes baked ziti, salad, roll and dessert. Nonveterans are also welcome; the cost is $8.
