Students place 11th in odyssey of the mind

A team from Zephyrhills High School placed 11th in the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals, an international competition that drew 815 teams from around the globe to Ames, Iowa. The Zephyrhills team, composed of all juniors, competed against 48 teams in their division. The teammates include Rose Kettelle-Daily, Hali Fisher, Ashley Ramirez, Savana Wright, Shelby Osborne and Jessica Geiger. The students thank their coach, science teacher Cecil James, along with family, friends and the community for supporting them in Zephyrhills High's first trip to the world competition in 20 years. The girls are already brainstorming for next year's competition.

Republican women to host luncheon

A kickoff luncheon is planned for the new Pasco chapter of the Florida Federated Republican Women's Club. The luncheon is at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Fox Hollow Golf Club, 10050 Robert Trent Jones Parkway. State Rep. Richard Corcoran will speak. The cost is $20 and reservations are required. St. Martin's begins monthly yard sales

St. Martin's Episcopal Church will hold its first giant monthly yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 7-9 at the church, 15801 U.S. 19 (north of New York Avenue). The three-day event will include a yard sale with furniture, clothing, housewares, appliances, a garden market, artists, vendors, entertainment, and food and drinks available for purchase. Donations are accepted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Thursday at the church. The church, which closed its thrift shop in Hudson Square earlier this month, plans to hold these yard sale events once a month. For information, call (727) 863-8560.

CARES Elfers Center relocates

During the construction phase of the building's renovation, the CARES Elfers Center has been temporarily relocated to the Grove Park Community Center, 4145 Fairford Drive.
