Get into a workout rhythm at Carrollwood DEFINE

CARROLLWOOD — Courtney Simon first began taking classes at DEFINE body & mind while living in Cincinnati.

After eight months, she lost 20 pounds and went from dreading workouts to getting up early for classes.

One day she brought along her mom, Jill Weldy, and step-sister, Lauren Weldy, and the trio thought it’d be a great idea to open their own studio.

Now DEFINE Tampa is slated to open this fall in Carrollwood.

DEFINE Body & Mind is a Houston-based franchise that offers barre, cycle and yoga classes. It currently has only one Florida location which is in Jacksonville.

The barre class, or DEFINE body, incorporates the science of pilates, yoga, core strengthening and ballet in a balanced workout, and DEFINE revolution is the cycle class.

"We’re all rhythm based," Simon said. "We do everything to music."

DEFINE mind includes yoga and hammock classes. The hammocks hang from the ceiling and clients do inversions upside down.

There are plans to add the DEFINE bounce class which is high intensity interval training on a mini trampoline combined with targeted barre work.

A free Barre & Brunch event will be held at 10:30 a.m. September 16 on the patio at Marlow’s Tavern located at 13134 N Dale Mabry Highway.
