South Tampa’s Baby Boomerang owner looks to retire, but keep shop open

After serving the Bay area for more than 25 years, popular baby and children’s consignment shop Baby Boomerang put a "for lease" sign up early this December.

Owner Mindy Socher started the shop in 1992 after college and says she is looking to retire, but that doesn’t mean Baby Boomerang also will hang it up. The shop is still operating as normal Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Socher has no set plan to close. She either hopes to rent it out or pass the baton to someone younger to take it over.

The children’s consignment shop is located in South Tampa on Kennedy Blvd. in a historic two-story house and is the go to shop for everything one needs for babies and children.

Its 2,500 square feet has it all from furniture, to toys, clothes, bedding, books, music and DVD’s, car seats, strollers, gifts, outdoor play, maternity clothes and more.

Several mothers love it and can easily recall purchases made over the years at the store. It’s a great place for new moms, grandparents, and anyone else that wants great children’s items at a discounted price.

Socher said Baby Boomerang prides itself on cleanliness. They inspect each item, and only accept clothing that is current and in season, and they have brand new items as well.
