Clearwater aircraft instruments maker Aerosonic Corp. said it will close its 9,000-square-foot repair facility in Charlottesville, Va., and transfer the repair operations to its Clearwater facility. The move will cost as much as $415,000, the company said in a regulatory filing, which includes breaking a lease commitment for the Virginia site. Aerosonic said it was cutting costs and taking advantage of new capacity gained in Clearwater as a result of recent "lean manufacturing" and other operational improvement programs. The company expects the closure to be completed by June 30. A year ago, the company employed just over 206 workers.
