A small group of members of the Transport Workers Union conducted informational picketing at St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport on Thursday starting at 11 a.m. The group represents more than 600 flight attendants at Allegiant Air.
The event aimed to call attention to company actions that the workers believe have a negative impact on employees, passengers and communities. Specifically cited by the workers were the company's extra fees that added to the low fares, and its history of abandoning some routes.
Also protesting a lack of contract, there were four Allegiant Air flight attendants, one of their pilots, a TWU representative and a flight attendant from Southwest.
