Network airlines trying to push through a $20 round-trip fare increase got only half a loaf. Discounters including Southwest, JetBlue, AirTran and Frontier resisted the full increase over the weekend before matching a $10 round-trip fare hike, said Rick Seaney, founder of the Website FareCompare.com. But some U.S. and Canadian carriers did boost fares $20 on routes to Canada and Hawaii, where the discounters don't fly, he said.
