TAMPA — Construction at Tampa International Airport is about to affect traffic: starting Sunday, one of the three inbound lanes will temporarily shut down near the Taxiway J bridge.

The closure will last 12 days and is set to end on May 22. Drivers entering the airport should be prepared for more traffic on the George J. Bean Parkway.

The Taxiway J bridge, used by planes to taxi over the parkway, will soon be torn down and rebuilt. Drivers will be rerouted to a temporary road.

Later this month, all three inbound parkway lanes will be rerouted around the taxiway, and then later this summer, the outbound lanes will be reduced and rerouted as well.

Officials ask drivers to be careful as the airport undergoes a $943 million expansion and upgrade.
