The new director of St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport will be Thomas Jewsbury and he'll start work on April 20.
Pinellas County Administrator Mark Woodard selected Jewsbury, the airport's deputy director of operations and facilities, to succeed retiring airport director Noah Lagos. Lagos is retiring in May after spending 11 years as airport director.
Jewsbury has worked at the airport since 1994, when he started as an airport operations supervisor. He was later promoted to airport operations manager and then deputy director in 2001.
Lagos' salary is $155,396 a year. Jewsbury currently makes $110,843 a year, but his new salary as airport director is still being negotiated. Jewsbury is a past president of the Florida Airports Council and remains on the board of directors.
