The boss of the world's largest airline alliance was named Tuesday as 2010 winner of the Tony Jannus Award. Jaan Albrecht has served since 2001 as CEO of the Star Alliance, which comprises 26 international carriers, including Continental, Lufthansa, United and US Airways. He will receive the award for distinction in commercial aviation at a dinner at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort on Oct. 29. The award is named after the pilot of the first commercial airline flight from St. Petersburg to Tampa on New Year's Day 1914.
