TAMPA — The sky may be clear and blue in Tampa Bay, but severe weather up the East coast this week is still causing widespread flight delays and cancellations. Tampa International Airport managed to avoid the brunt of it Friday with 95 delays and 34 canceled flights as of 4 p.m.
Flights to and from Atlanta and Detroit have the highest count of delays and cancellations, Tampa airport officials said.
Delta Air Lines canceled 400 flights across the country as of midday Friday because of a Wednesday thunder storm, the Associated Press reported. Delta canceled nearly 3,000 flights this week for weather related issues.
