Tampa International Airport's governing board picked the executive search firm Spencer Stuart over four other competitors Monday to find candidates to replace former airport executive director Louis Miller. Michael J. Bell of the firm's Miami office will lead the search. Bell has led or has been deeply involved in CEO searches for airports in Orlando, Jacksonville, Denver, Toronto and Houston, among others. The airport board is expected to vote on a contract with Spencer Stuart on July 1. The firm expects to bring members the names of two or three candidates to the board within 90 days. It suggested a $80,000 fee for the work. Miller abruptly resigned in February after running the airport for nearly 14 years. His deputy, John Wheat, has filled in as interim executive director and will compete for the full-time job.
