I've always been told reading in dim light ruins your eyesight. How does dim light affect your eyesight?

As far as the dim light ruining your eyes, not true, says Dr. Margaret Lewin, Medical Director of Cinergy Health. "Reading in dim light can cause temporary eye strain, but that resolves once you return to good lighting. It does not injure your vision."
