Publix still Florida's largest private company

Though familiar names top Florida Trend's 2008 list of the state's largest private companies — Publix in Lakeland is No. 1 and car dealer JM Family Enterprises in Deerfield Beach is second — there are a few surprises.

Oxbow Corp., a global energy conglomerate based in West Palm Beach, moved to fourth place with earnings growth of 162 percent last year. Rooms to Go in Seffner is No. 11, followed by Southeast Personnel Leasing in Holiday.
