AutoNation posts 44 percent growth in quarterly profits

AutoNation Inc., a Fort Lauderdale-based auto retailer, posted $152 million in net income for the last quarter of 2017, a 44 percent increase from the same period the year before. Its revenue for the quarter was $5.7 billion, up from $5.5 billion in the year-ago quarter.

Its stock opened at just under $58 per share Friday and dipped slightly during early trading.

There are seven AutoNation locations and a collision center in Tampa Bay. AutoNation has 360 franchise locations around the country.
