My First Car: 1930 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, William A. Trowell, 92, Tampa

'30 Harley-Davidson

This is a picture of my first motorcycle. I was 18 when this was taken. It is a 1930 Harley-Davidson 74-cubic-inch flat head. I rode it for several years and then started stunt riding at Plant Park Fair Grounds and race tracks during racing intermissions. I was a motorcycle officer for many years. I worked with the Tampa Police Department from 1945 to 1968 when I retired. I stopped riding in 1998. I wore out two Indians and a Harley or two. I graduated from H.B. Plant High School. I am now going on 92 years and going strong. Somehow I "acquired" the name Wild Bill. Maybe it was because I cleaned out a bar in Ybor City when I walked a beat.
