'72 Porsche 911T
I bought this car from a fellow Porsche Club of America member in Michigan in 1975 for $4,200. Because the hood was damaged and had to be replaced, I decided to change the color from red to silver. Later, I replaced the steel bumpers and engine compartment lid with fiberglass and flared the rear fenders to accommodate wider wheels. In the mid '80s, I installed an engine from a 1980 Porsche SC. I removed the CIS injection system from this engine and installed triple throat Webber carburetors, S cams and lightened the flywheel. I also installed a roll bar, Recaro seat and five-point seat belts. As a performance driving instructor for PCA and Track Time, I spent many hours on various tracks in the Northeast: Watkins Glen, Mid Ohio, Nelson Ledges, to name a few. The car was fast and agile. I was able to keep a Pennsylvania plate on it and drive it on the street but usually hauled it in a trailer to the track. Due to my wife's health problems, I sold the car in 1993. The picture here is from a PCA speed event at Road America before the engine change. The last I knew of the car, it was converted to a club racer by a fellow in Ohio.
