My First Car: 1940s midget race car, Maurice Hammond, 87, Zephyrhills

'40s midget race car

When I was 16, I wanted a motorcycle. Dad said I was too young. But I fell in love with a hand-built midget race car. It was no toy; it was clocked going 70 miles per hour. It was a beauty. Indy body, 1940s, front-wheel drive, etc. I had that race car about 1 1/2 years, then I traded it off for some motorcycles. I only have one picture of it.
