'30 Ford Model A

This is my first car that I bought in 1948 when I was 18. It was a 1930 Ford Model A, and I paid $60. I drove the car for three years until I was drafted into the Army. That's me in 1951 just before going away to Korea, and my dad in the background. He kept the car in the garage where we lived in Brooklyn until I returned in 1953. I kept the car running as best I could, but it had seen better days. It had a hole in the floor that wasn't great in the winter months. One time, we drove from Brooklyn to Staten Island and took the ferry. When we landed, I couldn't get the car started, so we got lots of help to push the car and it then started. It still is my favorite car and do miss having it. I sold it for $100 when I got married.
