'51 MG–TD

I bought this English sports car in late 1960. It had a drop-down windshield, side curtains and a convertible top. I added a tonneau cover, a Bermuda carriage bell (the rage at the time), a radio inside the glove box, a heater to keep my toes warm, and had the engine rebuilt. It could seat two, with a space in the back to hold a very small bag, an "idiot light" instead of a gas guage, and a hand crank to use when it wouldn't start (often). Simplicity and lack of refinements were understatements, but it was great fun to drive and a real attention-getter. I think I paid $1,000 which was reimbursed by the neighbor's kid who stole and wrecked it while I was on active duty in the Marine Corps. What's not to love about this classic car?
