Cary Putrino, a prominent area banker who's made a career of catering financial services to the wealthy, is switching banks. He will join Fifth Third Bank as an executive in the Tampa Bay market. Most recently, Putrino was regional president of Palm Beach-based Lydian Private Bank, which operated a branch in downtown Tampa. Putrino resigned from Lydian earlier this month. Last week, the bank was closed by regulators — the 10th Florida bank to fail this year — because of weak capital levels. It was sold to Sabadell United Bank of Miami, part of a Spanish bank. Earlier in his career here, Putrino worked for Northern Trust Bank.
