Bank of America plans layoffs of 81 in Tampa

Bank of America plans to lay off 81 employees at its consolidated processing center near the Veteran's Expressway in Tampa.

The nation's largest bank has scheduled the layoffs for between Aug. 14 and Nov. 27, according to a WARN notice posted on a Web site for the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation.

The downsizing is part of the bank's plans to trim more than 30,000 positions following its merger with Merrill Lynch, a deal hastily concluded during the banking crisis last year.

The processing center is located at 5301 Idlewild Ave. between the Veterans Expressway and Anderson Road.
