Raymond James Financial reports 36 percent increase in profits

Raymond James Financial Inc. late Wednesday reported a 36 percent jump in its quarterly income, driven by growth in its private client group and assets under management.

The St. Petersburg-based broker said net income for the quarter that ended Dec. 31 was $116.6 million. The company also notched record quarterly net revenues of $776.7 million, up 9 percent from a year ago and up 5 percent from the previous quarter.

The results, which were in line with estimates, were released after the markets closed.
