State Farm may be locked in an epic battle with Gov. Charlie Crist and the state over its plan to drop more than 1 million policies and withdraw from Florida's property insurance market.
But that doesn't mean state officials aren't playing nice. In fact, the governor is even giving what's the biggest private property insurer in the state (for now) an award.
At noon today, Crist is slated to give State Farm the Governor's Hurricane Conference Corporate Award during the Governor's Hurricane Conference in Fort Lauderdale.
According to a release, the award recognizes State Farm's "innovation and achievement in public awareness and mitigation advocacy" for its sponsorship of StormStruck: A Tale of Two Homes at Walt Disney World's Epcot near Orlando. The interactive exhibit is designed to let visitors experience the power of a weather event while learning how to best prepare.
