Transamerica Life Insurance Co. is laying off 96 employees at its St. Petersburg offices, according to a layoff notice filed Monday with state officials.
The company indicated the job cuts at its 570 Carillon Parkway location would occur in stages between Jan. 2 and April 1. Transamerica spokesman Blake Bostwick said the cuts will leave about 90 workers in the asset management unit. Other Transamerica operations at Carillon Parkway are not affected, he said.
Most affected workers are involved in call center operations and handling mutual fund financial services.
Based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Transamerica Life Insurance has more than $100 billion in assets and is licensed in all states (except New York) and the District of Columbia.
