The Tampa Bay area is leading the state in percentage of job losses, shedding 22,700 jobs, or 1.8 percent of its work force, since September 2007.
Florida's unemployment rate stayed steady at 6.6 percent, but counties in the Tampa Bay area were all hit by a slight rise on the jobless front, according to data released Friday by the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation.
The state's unemployment rate, unchanged from August, is up 2.4 percent from a year ago and is hovering at a 14-year high.
Small county-by-county increases in the bay area from August to September left Hernando's rate at 9.2 percent; Hillsborough's at 6.8 percent; Pasco's at 8.1 percent; and Pinellas' at 6.7 percent.
The state figure is seasonally adjusted, but county data are not.
