Clearwater electrical product maker Technology Research Corp. is acquired

Clearwater electrical safety product maker Technology Research Corp. was acquired this week by Coleman Cable Inc. of Waukegan, Ill.

The deal means Technology Research, which was publicly traded, no longer trades under ticker symbol TRCI and becomes part of larger Coleman (ticker: CCIX). Tampa investment bank Hyde Park Capital served as financial adviser for Technology Research in the deal.

The sale is the latest example of a Tampa Bay publicly traded corporation that has been sold or chosen to go private. Last year, Technology Research had 85 employees in Clearwater, 426 workers at its subsidiary in Honduras and 18 at its recently purchased Patco Electronics subsidiary in Titusville. Coleman Cable has been on a recent buying spree.
